Learn How To Create Your Own Website

So you want to create your own website. Great!
You've come to the right place.

It's easier than you think and I'll show you exactly how to do it.

Step 1: Get Your Template

First you'll need to find a nice theme or a layout for your site. That's easy and fun. Just click any of the categories from the left and start browsing our free website templates. If you've already downloaded a template, then you can skip this step. Browse the templates and when you find a nice one, just click the download button and your download will start. You've now downloaded your template and we're ready to move to the next step.

Step 2: Find a Domain Name and Host

To get your website online, you’re going to need a Domain name (a web address like yourcompany.com) and a web hosting (stores your files and connects your site to the internet).

Our templates are free but a domain and hosting are will cost a few dollars per month.

As a web hosting company, I recommend www.Bluehost.com. I personally use them and like them + they are super cheap. Their hosting costs $3.45/month and they give you a FREE domain when you sign up.

Click Here to go to their site and follow their instructions on how to order a web hosting package. It's super easy and they have very detailed instructions.

Okey, You've now downloaded your template, purchased a domain name and set up your hosting.

Step 3: Customizing Your Template

Now locate the template file you downloaded in step 1 from your hard drive. You'll have to unzip all the contents of the zipped folder. On Windows you can press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

It includes four folders. "fonts" includes the fonts used in this template. "jpeg" includes a preview picture of the template. "psd" includes all the images in Adobe Photoshop .psd format. "html" is the most important folder. It includes your actual site. "images" folder insice the "html" folder includes all the images and "css" folder includes all the styling options. You are free to modify any of the images or styling options but it's not necessary.

Index.html file inside of the "html" folder is the frontpage of your new website. You can open that file in any text editor and change the content. There's some random text as a placeholder. Edit those texts to your own. There might also be other pages, for example, "l" and "about.html". You can edit those pages in the same way.

Step 4: Upload Your Site

Now it's time to upload your site. Easiest way to upload the files is by using FTP. Bluehost has good instructions on how to upload your files. You'll have to upload all the files from the "html" folder to your web hosting.

Congratulations! - Your website is now online.
